  • Following an article posted on Railways Africa, I am not at all surprised at the state of PRASA. Although it is difficult to stand and point fingers because I am not sure who should be pointed at. Should it be MERTRORAIL / SARCC / Department of Transport / Treasury and so the list goes along, or should that be long?

The aging fleet is NO surprise, so why has there been so much talk and absolutely no action. Plenty of bucks for rebranding – having an inkling of what that type of rebranding costs – I am sure that could have been put in the pot for refurbishing coaches?

Just a thought, but all the big BLHA BLHA for having who knows how many sets ready for 2010, was, as it seems clearly BLHA BLHA, all talk and no action. Or perhaps I have this all wrong… your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

  • Metrorail’s new Tshwane 2nd Business Express, … . Travelling at speeds up to 120km/h, it will carry commuters between the two main stations in under 60 minutes….

(Blog post from Railways Africa – http://www.railwaysafrica.com/2009/05/new-business-express/ )

120 km/h on a line that is designed and signalled for 90 km/h?
This is something new. Has the line and associated signaling been upgraded?

A question from – Willie de Beer.
