According to reports quoting the Bombela concession company, the second phase of the Gautrain project should be largely complete by the end of 2010. This includes the lines south from Sandton to Park station, that running northwards to Pretoria, and the branch to Hatfield.
Work still to be finished includes viaduct construction over the N1 and Ben Schoeman freeways at Centurion station. Testing of the Midrand section should be complete in August. In the same month, it is expected that the civil contractor will hand over the Hatfield station to electrical and mechanical sub-contractors. Testing of all systems in the Centurion section are expected to be complete before December.
